Weird random tidbit of knowledge. The AMC V8s will bolt up to a lot of International Harvester drivetrains. Just in case you want to do a manual transmission swap

From one who was there when they were new, that's about what we thought about them - cousins to an International Harvester, but with that said I almost bought one of the AMXs in the red white and blue livery.

I bought a 340 Cuda instead and happened to meet up with one of the AMXs on the street. I waxed him.

I've since learned to appreciate many things from that era that I used to take for granted.

Am I the only one here old enough to remember the Javelin commercial where a kid gets one for HS graduation.

He drives away, when he comes back it's got a chrome supercharger sticking out, open headers etc. "It's a great car Dad, I just made it better".

I couldn't find it on YouTube.

I remember it. But I remember it being an AMX.

No. Then there's the one where kids in another car yell at the driver of the Javelin in unison, "Hey Javelin!!!" Driver smiles back, turns, and the plug for your local dealer rolls....there are some benefits to age,,,not this, but, some. I'll let you know when I find them.

Saw one of these on the road in fantastic condition a few months back.

I literally could not believe what i was seeing because it was the first and last Javelin i have ever seen in the flesh.

To my knowledge (which is limited) AMC's were not very popular in GA when they were sold and are as rare as hens teeth now.

Felt sorry for the guy, he must get very tired of being complemented on his camaro/mustang/cuda/ect...

Nice! T/A that thing. A close family friend of mine has a 1970 Mark Donohue Edition in Big Bad Orange. It's one of my favorite cars ever, and it's the first muscle car I've seen come apart and go back together.

(random tangent warning:) Whoa, I just remembered that we painted my old go kart's engine red, white, and blue at his house, like an AMC! My kart was orange too like his car, but had a sweet decal of a cheetah's head with a Rambo knife in it's mouth on the toeborads.Awesome!

What about the one where an urban street kid is walking down the avenue at night and finds a brand new Javelin parked at the curb?

The leather-jacketed kid starts his enthusiastic rant about the car and, then, the lights come on from the house. Some balding, wife-beater-wearing, fat guy leans out the window and screams "Hey, punk! Get away from the car!"

    Can't find that anywhere, either.
