The question is why? Besides money that is. I think maybe he needs to speak with Micheal Schumacher and Jacques Villeneuve for a little friendly advice on that topic.

It's not money. Renault, I'm sure, are not paying him very well, if at all. They may allow him to keep a percentage of his sponsor dollars, but likely not paying much.

    I'm going with boredom.

    Also, old news...

Didn't a whole crapload of whack-job investors get into Lotus (and Lotus F1 / Renault) and come up with that idiotic plan for 5 new models that all look the same but weigh 3,500Lbs so they can take on Porsche, Ferrari, McLaren, etc? There could be money in them waters yet boss...

I read part of an interview with him about his return a few days ago. It pretty much boiled down to boredom and the desire to get back to wheel to wheel. He said rally was fun, but racing against the clock in WRC and then doing a couple NASCAR races he wanted to get back to having other cars around him.

Have you seen the way Lotus blows through money?

An F1 team, lawyer fees to make sure there is only one Lotus F1 team, Indycar engines with the help of Judd, a full season GTE program with the Evoras (they told JetAlliance to go pound sand), two car GP2 team, among others.

Their competition director is writing checks that Lotus dealerships can't cash...

Oh yeah, for sure Lotus won't exist by this time next year at this rate. But one of their rubber checks might be at the Iceman.

Kimi will be OK if Lotus folds. Given his history... maybe Jay Lamm could put him to work at LeMons?

Kimi wants to get back to wheel to wheel racing? Then F1 is not the place to do it. Maybe he should try the DTM series or endurance sports car racing. Kimi and Lotus, yeah this will end well.
