Sooooo, this weekend I was supposed to be at the Oregon SCCA autocrosses in Packwood. John decided to double-drive my RX-7 Saturday since he's flying out for work today so we drove the 100 miles up and started racing. Got done with our whole 3 runs each and decided it was time to go. John ripped a contact and couldn't see very well (he hit 3 cones on a wide-open course in an RX-7!!) so we had to go to BELLINGHAM (which is by Canada) to get his spares.
Drove over the pass into Emunclaw and filled up. 180 miles on 9.2 gallons. Not bad considering 6 autocross runs in there and a mountain pass! Continued up to B-Ham, grabbed the contacts and dinner with a friend, and then turned around and headed south. 225 miles later we're back in Seattle at the airport hotel. 9.5 gallons. That's 23.7 MPG in a carburetor equipped 12A rotary!!! Did I mention the odo rolled over 234,000 miles as well?
Decided I was tired and drove the remaining 110 miles home to Kelso. That's 515 miles in ONE day in a loud, obnoxious RX-7 buzzing away.
Needless to say I'm not in Packwood at the races now. It's time to take a day of from racing. I'm pretty sure the 7 will need an oil change and some other maintenance now too.
Awesome.
