there actually is a very nice video called the drift bible, it's very well made and teaches you good techniques, even platform/layout based maneuvers. and it explains that it's all about weight transfer , car control and practicing safely.

+1 on Drift Bible. It's worth watching even if you aren't into drifting.

Whoa, lots of drifter haters here! I can agree with the stereotypical mad JDM Yo image of most drifters, but in Japan, many of these guys are older and very, very skilled. It is truly a Grassroots sport and RWD Turbo cars are always cool.

My main problem with it is it's very tire and car intensive, as in you will go through a lot of tires and cars.

I guess the main problem is this, I kinda only have ever had one car. If I wrecked it by drifting into a tree/telephone pole/car/house, then I'm pretty screwed as far as my daily transportation.

    Then DONT DO IT!

Seriously, you will look like a complete tard to your wife, kids, and everyone you know, if you ruin your one car trying something like this. Im very serious! Get a throwaway car before you go any farther.

Turn early into the corner and wait until you've loaded up the tires, then lift throttle. Wait for the ass end to start to spin, and then catch it with the correct amount of counter-steer while giving it SOME gas, then slowly give it more power until you've exited!

Don't use the e-brake, you'll end up snapping the cord or flat-spotting your tires.

drifting: the figure skating of the motorsports world.. yeah, it takes talent, but ultimately it comes down to what the judges have to say..

that being said, there isn't much that is more fun than beating around town in 6" of freshly fallen snow and getting all slideways around corners while all the smart people are at home obeying the order to not travel..

LOL Don't worry. I'm waiting till I get a toy to beat up. LOL I just would like to get more info in order to improve my driving. Every little bit helps. Never know when you'll get into that kind of situation and all that info kicks into gear and pulls your ass out of a tight spot.
