Go with an older non TDI VW Diesel from the late 80s or early 90s. You can always swap in a TDI long block and run them with a mechanical pump.

The reason I was asking Prius is that I would rather not have a 2 seater.

Additionally, the low seating position of a car like a CRX is pretty rough on my older knees and back.

5 seater high mileage vehicles? Prius, TDI, anything else?

I love diesel, and have looked a lot at TDI's, but their price tag is a bit high.

Between an old prius and an equivalently priced 4 seat tdi (both around $6k on the low end of average as far as ive seen), id take the tdi by a mile.

But the price is the only reason i dont own a tdi already. Its high on my list to get one, either in a vw car, or by itself for swap into one of my cars.
