Mine is expired according to the nhra. Its a snell 2005 open face gforce xl.
Nhra says gotta be 2010 or newer. Autocross didn't seem to care.
But renting a helmet at $30 a pop is STUPID in my mind.
All I'm likely to do in the next 5 years is drag racing and autocross. Possibly a hpde or track night in america.
I think i like open face better, but have never used a closed face in car except for the friday night drags. In motorcycles i preferred them.
Trying to find an inexpensive option that wont age out too quick, and fits my needs.
What/who/where do i go?

Wait until next year when the Snell 2020's come out. Right now you'll be buying a Snell 2015 and it's already 5 years into it's aging/expiration dates.
Are expiration date 5 years or 10?
You can buy an approved Helmet for under $200.
After 5 years, the interior pads will be broken down anyway.
Just buy a new helmet. And budget on buying a new one every few years going forward.

Depends on the sanctioning body. Most amateur series are happy with the last two approvals, so if you buy a 15 now, it will be ok for 6 years at most places. A 10 will age out next year. You can't really wait, so I'd look for clearouts on 15's.
I honestly need one in the next few weeks. Any good sa2015 closeputs?

Have you checked SafeRacer for anything yet?

Racequip has their SA2015 open face on SUPER cheap pricing for $118 for small, Large and XL.

they're cheap and will break down over time. but this solves your immediate problem and you can look at investing in a nicer closed face 2020 spec when they release in the coming year.
Check Racer Wholesale and Speedway as they run sale pretty regular.
