And a v8 miata is common, vr6 is 360 area with accesories around 100lbs more than a 1.6 now take away all accessories except alternator, cross member is lighter and also additional rear weight with 8.8. A all aluminium LSX is about 50lbs heavier than a vr6 add another 85 for iron block.

I didn't build it to be the badest miata just something people hadn't seen before. Here is link to my last miata 13bt. http://i223.photobucket.com/albums/dd70/VR6MIATA/IMG_0033.jpg

How much does the turbo and intercooler weigh? You're not going to get 500+hp from a VR6 without boost.

And once you're comparing to the new Chevy V8s, 500hp is really a minimum when considering contenders.

I agree but I can blow it up and spend $400 dollars at the junkyard and be running again. Weight is probably the same as aluminium swap. If I do another it will be twin turbo l33 but from previous experience once over 425-450 whp is not really usable on street tires anyway.

Well, yeah. One has bolt in kits. One doesn't.

Lakewood has this on their website

"This bellhousing fits AUDI 4,5,6 Cyl, Volkswagon 4 & VR6 Cyl. to Muncie, Jerico, Richmond, Saginaw, Bert, 4-5 Speed, Chev TKO 500-600 Transmissions. For use with internal hydraulic clutch. SFI Certified 6.1."

*Actually they had a bunch of neat engine/tranny combos. Like a Miata BP to Chevy TKO, 2JZ to Muncie, 13B to AOD

Neat, it's finally on the website.

    Enthusiast driven aftermarket!

To be honest, I did not think that the bell was VR6-capable.

(and I'm not certain that "break it and toss in another" is a good performance engine characteristic. And I play with rotaries, so what does that tell you?)
