Anyone have any idea where to get this stuff? I'm trying locally and if that falls through, I'm gonna need a little help. Since the GRM community knows EVERYTHING, I figured I'd start here.

Not exactly 5/8" od, but perhaps you could drill it out, or contact them for a special.

How long are you looking for?

Have you tried speedy metals? They've got a few places around here, but I think they are nationwide.

Anybody local who does aluminum extruding? How long of a piece? Can you have square stock bored at a machine shop? I'm thinking you're looking for square stock with a round hole - not thick walled tubing right?

McMaster-Carr has 1x1" structural aluminum (6061) tubing with .1875 wall thickness (giving 5/8" inside), in 12", 36", and 6' sections...

I've never seen something like that (circular bore in square cross section) from a wholesale supplier, I'm afraid you may have to have it machined.

McMaster-Carr is the first place I'd check....

How much of it do you need? A lot of metal suppliers will do "simple" machining for reasonable money, but you'll need to order a substantial amount of material.

I've have great service from Alro steel, but they aren't everywhere. Looks like Eagle is an option worth checking in Texas...

    More info needed.

First; by bar do you mean 1" x 1" square, or 1" round? What's the tolerance on the outside dims/dia.?

How long is the part that's made from this stock? What is it? Are you open to any other way of doing whatever "this" is? How many parts are needed?

How tight is the tolerance on the 5/8" bore? On it's position relative to the outside dims?

I ask all this because I design stuff that has to be made, and sometimes I make it. I redesign things done by other people so they can either be made at all, or made more easily or cheaply.

A square profile w/ a 5/8" hole only exists as an extrusion, and I've never seen it as a stock profile. If you need something like the part below, drilling in a stout drill press or better, a milling machine is the best answer if it's under about 2-1/2" in length. If it's 3/16" wall tube, it's easy - just buy some.
