Honestly, I think it looks kind of silly. I'm a big Lotus fan, but it just doesn't strike me as "Lotus" with all the extra doodads and attempt at styling.

Looks like a Lotus done by the Civic guy down the street from me. I'll pass.

Heh, just as I predicted, flat/matte black IS becoming a factory color: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/vw-wont-give-us-awesome-but-awe-di-will/13238/page1/

I hate to break it to you, but this color has been standard issue on motorcycles for a long time, it was inevitable.

Crap, now I have to repaint my truck in a new, "uncool" colour and wait another 10 years for it to become a trend.
Where's my brush and roller?
At least the lotus doesn't have red wheels.

That color has been standard issue on bazillions of backyard motorized creations since the beginning of time. Claiming flat black as a trend particular to xxx is like trying to claim you saw air eventually being important to everybody. The first flat black car I went goo goo for was a 1970 dodge coronet with a built 383, a M 4 speed, a locker rear end and the biggest bias plys I have ever seen In my life before or since. That was 1976 or so. Spent a bit of time sideways on HWY 38 around barton flats back in the day in that thing. Flat Black Rocks!!! Always has.

I believe all the cool kids call it "murdered out".
I didn't know Lotus was aiming for the 'baller crowd now.......

I've been a fan of black cars for a long time... so I like... now if the paint was radar-absorbing as well...

I think that it looks great. I'd love to have it on the track, but certainly wouldn't like to be driving at night with it. Little cars are invisible enough as it is.

Meh, I don't like black cars in general and flat black has been played out for at least a year.
Now, I'd love an Exige... just not in black.

It certainly has that sinister look down, imagine coming up onto the foothills in your Miata, looking in the mirror and seeing that behind you, do you pull over and try to stay with it or try to keep him behind without holding it up.

Don't surrender....make him earn it....unless it becomes clear that you are clearly holding him up, then let him go.

I kind of wish flat black wasn't so popular, I'd love to paint my FB that color...

In reply to aussiesmg: The flip side of that is That lord Vader will be mighty chagrinned when he's passed by a 20 year old flying Miata! The dark side hates being passed by a hairdresser!

Nice color, but the styling is almost ricey. The Evo-ish wing on the back is really pushing it.

Needs some rust and grey primer to match.

What happens if you accidently touch wax to that ? Is it as difficult to remove as it is from your nasty old dry rubber bumpers?
