I am also waiting in anticipation for any word about a mazdaspeed 2 and what it might look like. The SKY family is set to replace the MZRs, so I expect we will see an all new engine in the next 2, SPEED or otherwise.

Just a random thought: Mazda is a much smaller and more responsive company than just about any other manufacturer out there. Especially to enthusiasts. Why doesn't everyone who wants to see one send an email to Mazda telling them that your Mazdaspeed2 would look like? it really can only help.

N/A, high reving how does it not fit the bill perfectly?

Lol in reality the 2.0 with some cams would be perfect and would make me really think about trading my MS3.

Yeah, I imagine that a lot of people will run out to buy a subcompact hatchback that gets 20 mpg without awd or a turbo. LOL

It's gotta be turbocharged, a big naturally aspirated port injection engine will get dreadful (<30) fuel mileage unless they put a gearset they don't have on it.

I'm wondering if they have a little Sky-G turbo engine ready for this. They've gotta have some engine ready to power the ND Miata. Maybe it'll be the 14:1 compression 2.0 NA Sky-G after all? They said it'll get 40 MPG highway in the 6 so in a car that's not far over half the weight...

Mazda, if you are listening, I will be buying the first hot hatchback that has a proper manual gearbox, enough power that I don't need a sundial to measure 0-60 times, and gets 38+mpg highway. I hope for your sake you are first.

Too fast to be fun, no. Too powerful, yeah, I can see that. If you can't put all of the power to the ground, what's the use in making so much?

I'm glad that suspensions are advancing along pretty well to compliment these new motors.

Kinda sad that 0-60 of 10 seconds is so slow you don't need a stopwatch. The CVCC thread that is bragging about 49mpg- how fast is that car?
