So looks like I finally broke the last of those little tabs on the gauge hood while I was replacing the speedo cable (whomever but that litte tab on the firewall behind the coil packs needs to be shot BTW).

Any grassroots ideas on keeping it from flopping around without the tabs? The plastic they're made of is really, really brittle. Last time superglued the last remaining one in place but now that its broke I can't find all of its little pieces anymore.

I'd rather not replace it if I don't have to because they're expensive ($100) and I already spent hours on this one scraping off the old sticky paint and repainting it.

I tried gluing mine, and it just kept breaking. The answer: Velcro.

Looking at the gauge hood and where it sits, find 2-4 (I used 3 IIRC) places where you can put velcro to hold it on. Mine has been this way for at least 2 years now.

Thanks Jeff. Velcro sounds like a great idea. I'm going to give it a try when I get home.

I bought a replacement hood for my broke one 4 years ago, before I started parting cars. I was going to meet some folks at the Dragon, and didn't want to take the time to mess with changing it. I used some black silicone caulking and ya know what, it worked great. I liked it much better, and sold the hood I had just bought. hehe I even currently sell broke tab hoods on ebay from out donors, and include a picture of my cars silicone so people can see
