Just bought a 2000 miata LS. So far all is great except a ticking noise with the lights on at low rpm. Alternator? It's a great car otherwise! Do the NB engines have the same great reputation as the NA 1.8?

Headlight relay? Maybe you can figure out what general area the clicking is coming from? I've never heard an alternator 'click.'

Does it change with the RPM's. (the frequency not the volume)

Yes it does. I thought it was valve train chatter until I turned the lights off. I will have to try the a/c next. I'm working on a list of things to replace/fix right now since I just got it. So far I have pads/rotors on the list, and inspect timing belt (of course the dealer said "oh ya, good for another 60k" haha). Oh, 124k on the odo.
