I can't believe I'm having to ask this, but I need a part for a Miata

The current project in my garage is a 1990 that got turned into a 1996 which then got a 1990 dash. All was good until I got to the radio.

Does anyone have one of the radio "cages" that were used from 1990-95? We haven't had one come through FM salvage in forever, and the car that donated the dash doesn't have one either.

Ask Tom Neel at 256-309-0492 or by email at parts@partsgroup.com.

He is always parting out Miatas and I net he has one. He runs one of the ex-speedsource rx-8 in some events. Don't know if he posts here or not.

    Hell hath truly frozen over

Try an email to MW here on the board (Mike Wolfe) -- he's got a ton of Miata parts kicking around, and he's an all-around decent guy to boot.

I'll crosspost it to MNMazda.... IDK if it'll do anything, but you never know with our guys. I can probably scrounge a salvage yard for you too if need be.

I could have sworn my car still had one of those, but I just went and looked, and it's already gone. Sorry.

80s Toyota pickup cages are close enough to work if you happen to have one laying around. Just need to drill an extra hole in the cage or use a different hole in the side of the radio iirc. Its been a long time since I did this on my first Miata.

Try Willy or Blake at isellmiataparts.com, they would probably have one.

Thanks everyone. I'm looking for the easy way out, this car's already eaten enough of my time I'll do a rundown of it on the forum when it's done. Anyhow...

I've got a ridiculous number of parts in my garage, but this one just doesn't seem to be there. It should - I've got 1990 tape decks and even one or two of the CD players. Just no cages.

I was hoping someone might have one sitting around after building a Spec or installing some sort of monster stereo. There are a few salvage yards I could tap. If nobody's got one handy, don't go to any lengths for it. Lemme know, thanks!

    A-HA!

I knew there had to be one somewhere. I dug out something that's close but not quite - I think it's the mounting for the CD player for a 1995 or something. Whatever, I've been able to sort it out well enough.

Man, this just reinforces why I don't do audio work on cars. What a pain.
