Our Challenge Miata is leaking from what we suspect is the rear main seal. So...we're going to attack that and put in a new one. Under the (in)famous "while we're in there" mentality, are there other seals involved that make sense to change? Your advice is appreciated!

Make sure the leak is not from the much more common back of the head cam angle sensor.

It seems to be coming out of the weep hole in the trans bellhousing. It has been a year or so since I looked at it, but I am pretty sure it was only out of that hole.

Sorry-When it was mine the car was out of budget. Dyinto waited until the rest of the GRM world didn't come up with any offers and bought it for quite a bit less. he does have some room, but the stock clutch disc held well with the upgraded pressure plate when I had it. Unless it is oil soaked it will probably be OK.

Agreed. Let's hope the clutch is fine. As for the original topic, any other seals that are recommended? Also, any guidance on swapping the rear main seal would be appreciated!

Would the GRM world recommend pulling the engine or would removing the transmission suffice?

When I was doing everything on my NA I left the engine in and pulled the trans/PPF/diff 'cause I was also doing every suspension bushing/chassis rail+butterfly braces/clutch/etc/etc I found the PPF to be a bitch, possibly as a result of something a PO may have done in the past.
If all I needed was bell housing access I'd probably pull the engine.
