I am currently in the process of being jacked around for the second time by auto transport companies, just trying to get a Miata shipped from norther VA to NW Ohio. Fed-up, and looking for other alternatives.

Is there anyone here between Ohio and Virginia with an enclosed hauler that has a spare day and could use some $$$ in their pocket?

At this point I would consider an open trailer, even though the car has no top. I can arrange to have garbage bags duct-taped over the seats and crap. I just want my car, and I don't think my other Miata would tow it up here.

    Thanx,

    Will

    In reply to grafmiata:

Another Miata? If I could come up with a big enough trailer for 2 cars, I'd bring it to you--I'm hoping to pick up a Civic in MD over the next month. . .and have an engine to drop off in NoVA as well. . .

Yeah, another Miata... BUT, this one has NO RUST and comes with boostage!!!

I'm hoping to figure something out quick. I've technically owned the thing for a month, but the weather wasn't very cooperative down there for awhile.

Does it not drive? Sounds like less than a day trip...

Yeah, it drives. It's only about 8.5 hours each way for me, but time is kinda tight for me right now.

If you need a ride, with a support vehicle for the ride back, perhaps we can work something out when I go to get my car. I probably won't be going until April, however. . .

I used this site to find a transport co: http://www.transportreviews.com/

I wound up using these guys: Chris Banks First Class Auto Transport LLC 1-800-405-2494 Chris.Banks@firstclassautotransport.net

I was very satisfied with the price and service. Took a few days longer than anticipated but I wasn't in a hurry.

See my response in the NW Ohio thread.

I don't have a trailer but my spring break is the week of March 22. I would be happy to fly/bus down there and drive it back up if you covered the plane/bus ticket and gas for the way back if you don't have any other options.

When I got my Miata, a one-way airline ticket cost me $200... This weekend looks like a great weekend for a (long) top-down cruise :)

I'm also free this weekend if that isn't too short of a notice.

I really appreciate all the offers to help, but thankfully, the car is scheduled to be delivered on Saturday. It's pretty amazing how there can be ZERO enclosed haulers available in the area, until you toss another $200 into the equation. All of a sudden, apparently every CDL driver in the country is driving aimlessly throughout the midwest looking for cars to move.

But time is money, and I am sorely lacking on the time-side of things right now, so it's worth it just to get the damn thing up here so I can start tearing into it.
