In the time working at a Cadillac dealer (13 years) I have only seen two V's with failed differentials. Both 04-05's. IIRC the housings and axles were updated for the 06-07 models. Not to say you could not explode one, but if driven with some care it should not be a problem. Yes axle hop is cause, keep from doing that!
