OK, I went to an auction in St. Louis this weekend. It was pretty cool, actually, and it made me wish I was ready to buy something, especially the car I'll start with. This was a 71 914. Not perfect, but well worth what it was bid to, which was $2500. I didn't see it before the bidding but was able to check it out after. I lightened up one of the pics so you can see the plastic rocker cover which has "Porsche" spelled out in relief, which I've never seen before on any Porsche, and of course the black decal, the two of which were a little overkill. A few rust spots, driver seat had a dime size tear in it, and one of the hooks that holds the targa top in inside the truck was gone.

Then thee was this 951, with what looked like a 968 front clip and was in awesome shape, claimed to be "Porsche certified", sold for $9100 which i thought was a good deal.

Then there was this 1988 944 n/a. I missed the bidding, but noted it didn't sell the next day. I found out the reserve was 8K. Really good shape, 80K miles, but 8K is a little steep.

A very cool Geo "Zonker". I think this is actually a badged suzuki Swift turbo but I have no proof. I couldn't find it anywhere in the listing but there was a yellow Swift I didn't see on the lot, so I figured safe bet. Cool car, good shape, didn't sell.

A few other nice odd and ends. The truck is one of the trucks from "The Duel".

    dig the accord!

Seems like a cool way to spend some time. I wonder what the asking price for the Zonker was?

those rockers on the Porsche 914 were VW dealer optional. The place in which I am employed purchased the molds for them, and has been working on manufacturing them. We just got in the first shipment of them last week. They are ABS plastic, and they install over the top of the metal rockers...covers rust pretty well, so if you want to buy a 914 with them, make sure you check under them.

I would love to have the Geo, that thing is awesome. The original Bronco was pretty cool too but probably out of my price range.

The Peterbilt would be one helluva "honey, check out what I picked up at the auction!"

I had those rocker covers on my 71 914 along with the porsche stripe above it.

The 914 was a freakin' steal at 2500! Looks amazingly clean and original.

But the Duel Peterbilt would be the one to take home. Imagine the fun you could have .

The Zonker was covered in the July 1990 Motor Trend.
