That car probably needs an entire new rear subframe. There's a real simple check, just see if the shifter is centered in the hole in the tunnel. I had to replace the entire subframe and right corner on a car that went into the wall at work. Not incredibly hard, but took two days. I don't think you could get parts to fix it for $500.

Oh I don't know, there's a certain member on this board who parts out Miata's all the time that might be able to find something in the bin outside to help him out :)
