I don't know what it is here in Ohio but both my and SWMBO's cars get smeared all over the rockers with greasy and rubbery goobers.  Much elbow grease has been applied in the past and I'm running out of elbow.

Yesterday I used De-Solv-It on SWMBO's car and it worked well.  It is citrus oil based so it required extra washing after use to remove the oily residue.  But while it is safe for infants I'm concerned about using on the new car's new clearcoat.

So what's the best bug and tar remover?  Only products that won't harm the paint or clearcoat, please.

I use turtle wax brand on the pine tree goo and it doesn’t damage the paint

I just use naphtha. It’s safe and works well.

dawn dish soap works fantastic for tar. Just be sure to rewax the area as it takes the wax off in most cases.

for bugs, Sprayway glass cleaner. spray, let sit for a minute and then wipe off.

Vinegar and water for bugs and Method all-purpose cleaner (plant based) for tar and other difficult substances. Have not found anything for dried cement.

Another pretty effective cleaner that also strips wax (and works pretty well on stuff like this) is the Simple Green aircraft cleaner.  Not the same stuff as regular Simple Green.

Just recently read somewhere that fabric softener sheets work great for bug removal...if it wasn't raining here today I'd try and report as I went on a roadtrip last week

LOTS of bugs out when the flowers bloom on the roadway in TX

Yeah but how do you fit the car in the dryer?
