What ever happened to the Legends and the Baby Grands? I had one for a few years and it was a blast. The air cooled motor under the body was not a good design... although a water cooled version was in the works.
I think the car builder went under as well.

No, but I think they are a great idea. Used ones come up every now and again but I haven't seen any on track - either road or circle. I just thought it was my area.

I know there used to be Alllison Legacy cars, Baby Grands, and whatever the Arena Racing League uses. The roof of the car normally flips up and you climb in or out that way. I am surprised I don't see more old Legends cars being used for different purposes like track days. I always went in through the window and several cars had removable hatches on the top. A miata car cover fit it perfectly.
It had a Winters quick change rear end too.
Legends cars still seem to be a happening thing: 600 Racing
I've seen several Legends cars at autocrosses. They're quick, but the guys can never seem to keep them running.
I only recall seeing one at a track day and it didn't seem to have a high enough top speed for the open track.
There's a Legends series running at Hallett in Oklahoma, I think some Texas tracks are running them also.

I've been on the track with those guys at Hallett (in a spec racer Ford.) They have WAY too much fun out there. 
It's kind of like watching a Roman chariot race...the only thing they don't have are spinning spikes on their wheels and bullwhips. There's a Baby Grand car that races there, too, and it's quick.
There's a ~20-30 car sized legends group that races with NASA Norcal. There was 1 baby grand, but it caught on fire at ThunderHill early this year and that's the last I've seen of it.
The OP is a bit mis-informed.
The Legends Series initiated by 600 Racing in 1992 is alive and well. The sanction races acrossed the United States and Canada.
SCCA recognizes the Legneds and Thunder Roadsters as I believe D Sports Racers.
There is also a Bandelero class that is a stepping stone to the Legends Cars.

Great concept, price has gone from 10K to about 13K for a race ready turnkey car. All of the cars are manufactured in NC and sold through dealers spread out acrossed the country.

Thunder Roadsters are also very popular in Norcal. Same engine, longer wheelbase, heavier, better rubber.
Don't know why, but the thought of taking a Bandolero, and swapping engine for a 600 sport bike engine always makes me smile.
Oh...right, same power/weight as the bike, but with 4 wheels.
