I would love to have diesels as well, but our friends in Washington seem determined to kill them. I agree that hybrids are most likely a stop gap until something better comes along, but they are pretty good at their intended use. I don't think we will be getting rid of conventional cars and engines anytime soon but will see various hybrid model to help efficience and emissions.

As far as the mining/heavy metal problems that argument rarely comes up because the rules we are all trying to comply with are set by our gov't which seems to have little concern for pollution as long as it's someone else's which is why we get most of the battery parts from "over there"

In my daily life my distance is measured in miles, my fuel in gallons my rooms in square feet. Only when I am pouring a soda from a 2 liter bottle or working on my Charger, Neon or RX7 am I really metric. I remember speed limit. Signs being posted around NYC in KmH, by 1980 there were back to MPH.

    I know.

    Ignorance is bliss.

You do a great job of making my point.

IMHO most new cars suck. I can name the number of new cars I want on my hands, Lotus Evora, Lotus Exige, Lamborghini Murcielago, Jaguar XFR, Bentley Continental Super Sport, Ford Mustang, Morgan Aero 8, Ariel Atom, Caterham 7....
