I have an 05 GT with some mismatched in color stock wheels and Crosswind (I've never heard of them)  tires in 235/45/17. I was going to sell them but a guy offered me Mustang Mach 1's in 215/45/17 with Michelin tires. What I can't seem to find is if a)if the backspacing on the wheels would work?  And b) how is the narrow tire going to change anything? And lastly c) I see a lot of hate on the one forum post about the Mach 1 on a S197, but I can't find a good pic. (Thank you photobucket).

thanks

This is a great site for figuring out fitment. Enter the specs of the new wheels/tires and the old wheels/tires, and this will show you how they fit relative to each other.

It all comes down to the offsets? Most of the Mach 1 wheels were intended for the SN95 and New Edge cars made through 04. All Mustangs changed offsets in 05. There are Mach 1 wheels with the proper offsets for 05, but they're all aftermarket, and aren't nearly as common.
