Looks nice. That picture on I-95 is just over the Thames river bridge isn't it. Lovely Groton, CT.

just lose the exhaust and the cheapo foglights and that car will be perfect.

Sweet! An old racing buddy of mine used to campaign one in SCCA ITA in the early 90s. He was pretty successful with it.

Amazing how "busy" those old Japanese cars look

And the Weld Draglites. The fronts are maybe 4" wide, and look really lame in my opinion.

Anyone have an idea as to what these Welds are worth on the open market? They look to be a dual pattern wheel, and one is for sure the dreaded 4X110 that this car,and most vintage Mazda's use. I am not sure what the other bolt pattern is,but I will find out.

Sure is!! We had just got on the highway from the New London ferry crossing at that point.

I love that car. The Weld wheels make it look like a lot of the cars we used to watch race up in Hunts Point.

I am not sure, and I am afraid to touch it. It could be the ejector seat, and this canopy isn't designed to break away. The wiring in the car is a bit suspect with the booming stereo, alarm w/power door locks,etc..

That is one of the things I want to go through on the car. The seller added the series 2/3 RX-7 power mirrors as well, and they work, but look out of place on this car. The unfortunate thing is I can't easily repair this as there are holes in the doors from these, and I am not interested in painting the whole car at this point. I would love a nice set of period correct fender mirrors on the car,but that will have to wait.

Anyone know of where I can get a nice set of fender mirrors? Also if I wanted to do this how expensive do you guys think it would be to weld up the holes in the doors, and blend the paint in? It is a pearl white by the way.

If you don't want to paint the whole car, I don't think I would risk mucking with the mirrors. They might look a little modern but they aren't a terrible fit.

Looking at the thing, it would be really easy to smooth out with different side marker lights and stripping the badges and related gingerbread off. If you really wanted to go crazy with custom bodywork, an early-mkII Camaro rear valance with the nice round tail lights would really clean this thing up.

I see the gear indicator in the center of the dash, did it used to be an automatic? What goes there on factory manual cars, assuming a gearbox swap was preformed?

Your RX-4 reminded me of a very sweet example I saw on Speedhunters and JNC:

I read somewhere that the owner used Celica fender mirrors since the original Mazda mirrors are so rare. He also got a lot of the restoration stuff from Australia, where the used parts tend to be in better condition. Just some food for thought.

You have GOT to lose the Grant steering wheel. More than anything, that is the first thing you need to change.
