I'll cut to the chase: I have a car that originally had a manifold/downpipe/cat set up that now has a cat-less header welded straight to the midpipe. I need to get it past tailpipe emissions, and without a cat obviously it's failsville.
I'd like to keep the header since it's in good shape and flows a little better.
I was thinking of taking the mid pipe resonator out and welding in a universal cat. In the OEM setup the only O2 is pre-cat and technically it'll have all the proper emissions components, just not in OEM configuration.
I figure I'd tap the GRM community's wealth of knowledge and see if this was a terrible idea.
