Young neighbor (16) asked me if I can help him find the rear frame stubbers for his 98 Firebird V6.

Anybody got a pair at GRM prices?

Those are his words, I will have to check what he is seeking, I am not a 4th gen guy so I guessed it was something I didn't know about either

The rear of a 4th gen F body is pretty much the same as a 3rd gen

RockAuto.com has parts for cheap but it doesn't show a stubber. There are pictures and maybe you can figure out what RA calls them.

I doubt that he indicated there was one missing from each side.

I haven't caught up with him yet to clarify though

i think there is a snubber on top of each axle where it would contact the frame rail, just inboard of the brakes.

The car usas a torque arm so a pinion snubber isn't needed. He probably means the bump stops. They're located on the frame rail above the axle and usually dry rot and fall off so you probably won't find a decent used set. I cut mine off in order to fit 11" wheels. They're not really a critical component

I wonder if this is like the mispelling/mispronounciation of Bumper I keep seeing online... "bumber"

Intead it is "stubber" instead of "Snubber"

I replaced the rear bump stops on my 98' with some $20 energy suspension parts meant for a jeep. I had to trim the metal on the car, but it was worth doing. The car would bottom out pretty often and make a nasty thud.
