A guy in my model car club retired and replaced his Jeep Commander with a cube in the same color and similar looking chrome wheels. It looks like he kept the Jeep in the dryer too long

I was thinking the other day that if they put the Juke motor in the Cube i might actually like it a lot.

I was reading a "buyer's guide" in a British "fan boi" type of magazine yesterday. The U.S. got the 2nd gen. Cube, while many other countries got the 1st and of course the 2nd. The 1st has TONS of aftermarket support in the countries where it's sold, the 2nd? Not so much. BTW, the 1st was sold with automatic or CVT transmissions only. Fans of the 1st pan the 2nd as a car that is trying too hard. The 1st is/was a cute car while the 2nd KNOWS it's a cute car...or is supposed to be cute.

I don't know if anyone does this like they do for Hondas, but I wish the Cube could accept (make that EASILY ACCEPT) an engine upgrade, like to a 1.8 or 2 liter out of a Sentra. A Cube with a SR20DE? "I'd buy that for a dollar."

I like the cube but haven't driven one. The Soul is okay but I agree it's not weird enough. I like the first gen xBs better for similar reasons. If I were buying a rolling breadbox, though, I'd go for the XXL version and get the ford Flex. I likes them a LOT.

There are two Cubes buzzing around here as Taxis, why not? Easy in & out, cheap to run, easy to parallel park.

Someone in their review...I think it was Edmunds, hinted that the Cube is a good taxi substitute (tho you can't haul passengers and much luggage at the same time). I figured it would be a good "part time" pizza delivery vehicle. But as I said in an earlier post, finding a manual with cruise has me stymied. They are out there, just not very common.

The cube doesn't do any thing for me. However if I owned one, I would need to figure out how to get an magical 11 character license plate, so it could read:

There is no reason for such a disturbing assault on the aesthetics to exist. Carry on.

Peeve of mine. There is NO newish car that makes a good pizza delivery car. If you are delivering pizzas, buying ANY car <5 yr old is shooting yourself in the foot. When i see people working the most entry level of jobs and driving cars to them that cost more than their yearly salary, i have to wonder if mammy and pappy's generosity didnt come with a heaping helping of economic ignorance to go with it.

Every time I see a green Cube I feel it needs a WWII style white star on the doors.... But I don't know WHY...

You might see this in a year or two. I think the Juke is an intentionally low-volume model, for the purposes of testing out the powertrain. See, if you put it in a car that doesn't sell much, and it's a dud, it is much less of a loss.

But if the Juke powertrain is a success, I expect we'll see it, and some varioants, across the Nissan line.

A friend has one. Went on a road trip about a year ago, and I found it nice. The car feels like a gadget in a way that most don't. It's tiny, everything is just so, and many choices are made that break traditional automotive aesthetic tradition. I drove it for a short stint, and it has enough power to not be a hazard when merging. It's not particularly nimble, but it's fun. The seats are small, upright and hard. Materials and textures obviously had some attention.

Honestly, just driving around town, it's like a less overtly mechanical version of an air-cooled beetle.

I like it a lot because it's weird. I drove one and it reminded me of an old VW bus. Not fast but practical and interesting. The only problem is finding one with a manual. Dealers just don't stock them that way.

The cube HAS an MR18, shared with the Versa. And I'm pretty sure a Sentra MR20 will bolt right in, it's just nobody has bothered to do it as it's lots of effort for marginal gains.

    Perhaps I should have said:

I almost wish the Cube could EASILY ACCEPT (oh, wait, I did) an engine upgrade, like to the DOHC SR20 out of a Sentra SE-R.

Or, an engine with more power and torque than an SR20, like a turbo version of a motor it already has (how EASILY ACCEPTed is that?), like a Juke motor!

    Woah, deja vu in here.

Another vote for the Juke Box.
