We're looking at adding some fall and winter items to the GRM store, so keep an eye out for them. Beanies and hoodies, anyone?

Hoodies is a great idea....

But....

Size Small?!?!?!? Puh-leaze?

Wow jockey size :) I don't I have fit into small anything since college :)

I would like to see maybe GRM wind breakers or pull over fleece.

Maybe Mechanix type gloves with GRM on them? I have a pair of black slip on (without the velcro attachment) I use for driving in the winter. Thinner material than huge winter gloves and just enough to protect the hands and keep warm. Also has good feel (for those who have never tried on Mechanix gloves).

Second the pull-over fleece. The Flying Lizard one I picked up at the Daytona24 is still my favorite cool weather covering...

I would buy a hoodie, so long as it wasn't more than $40. But considering you guys charge $25 for a hat, I would expect a hoodie to be expensive...

Great idea, as long as you start with quality gloves. Don't cheap-out on us. I'll pay more for good ones.

I'll try to keep the price low--but our cost on this stuff is not cheap. We don't outsource to China, preferring to keep our local businesses IN business, but that stance comes at a price.

I'd like to see a (reasonably priced) hoodie as well. :)

Margie, if you guys are pushing to have locally made stuff and that is driving prices up a bit more than www.hoodiesbychina.com prices, IMO it's worth mentioning that they are locally produced in the product descriptions. That way we (the consumers) don't just assume you guys think you've got some TOTALLY BAD ARSE bucket hats. I won't lie, I still think your work shirt is overpriced even though it's a Red Kap ($36.96 for the same exact shirt I can get elsewhere for $15 sans logo), but seeing that it's a decent quality shirt in the description at least helps a little bit. I keep hoping that pricing will be like the iPhone and come down 30% in another week. Maybe I should do like half the guys here on the board and just say I think it's awesome, so awesome that I'm going to buy one used in 5 years after it's depreciated in value.

I just went grassroots on the work shirt idea...I have a dealership tech shirt that a previous owner left in a car I bought, good quality free work shirt but with somebody else's name on it. Pull off the nametag, adhere a GRM sticker to the shirt, voila..GRM work shirt for free!

Oh yeah, and I'll be getting a beanie, even an overpriced GRM beanie is money well spent, I can never seem to have too many of them. Whether working in the pits, digging in a u-pull, wrenching in an unheated shop, needing an emergency hot pad, or needing to keep the welding sparks from immediate burnination on the thinking cap....they're always handy.

Don't underestimate the power of a good guilt trip in the sale

srsly, if it's worth it to you, tell us, and we might agree...

All right, I'll talk to Baxter about pimping the locally-produced aspect in the merchandise descriptions. But yeah, given that fact, as well as that we buy tiny quantities compared to most apparel merchandisers, we just get clobbered on the prices.

At least it IS good quality. It has to be, because most of the staff bases their wardrobe on our stuff ;-)

Margie

Oh, and that reminds me: J.G. saw a guy wearing a GRM shirt in the Atlanta airport today (he's on his way to the new WRX intro) and introduced himself to this guy. Guy was like, um, okay. J.G. felt like a dork.

Fair enough. I wasn't aware of that. That definitely changes my opinion.

Okay, there's now a little blurb on the clothing page the explains that we deal locally on our logowear, so don't be lookin' for Wal-Mart prices. Also, samples are coming tothe office tomorrow on the hoodies and beanies, so we can check 'em out and see if they're nice.

Speaking of hoodies, as long as they look good, we're thinking both zip and non-zip versions. Sound good?

I'll trade the zip up hoodie for a long sleeve tee. Zippers scratch paint and reduce pocket flexibility at an added cost, I thought they only made those for people fussy about messing up their hair. Also, as mentioned by atlantamx3, CM is still outclassing the GRM stickers being die cut and all...must be brand strategy or something.

Not doing long sleeve t's in this batch, but we ARE doing hoodies without zippers as well as the zip-up ones.

We're working on GRM die-cuts. Thanks for the reminder--I need to see what's up with that.

If the beenies (skull caps?) are available for big heads, I might have to. One-size-fits-all beenies don't.

Seconded, I have a large noggin...do us a favor and make sure the fattest head in the office can still cover the ears without doing any calisthenics before you guys order a bunch. I knew it was a long shot to get long sleeve tees instead of another hoodie, but it was worth a shot!
