Wait, you literally passed out? And you didn't eat wall? Apparently I need much more driver mod that previously thought!

    In reply to Tim Suddard:

Good, but not very interesting to me. Its just another dream car I'll never have.

The Viper? Are they still making that thing?

The interview is pretty long, but definitely worth watching. There's a specific part that Ralph wasn't allowed to talk about that has me all giggly inside.

That interview was very interesting and revealing. We'll just have to wait and see if the end results match-up to the intent; certainly hope so for Chrysler and the domestic industry's sake.

A bit of judicious editing seemed to erase (the well-spoken) Gilles' quick departure, but it sure looked like he was launching out of that chair when the interviewed concluded. Mother Nature or a packed media schedule?

Edited for time, not content. The Dodge folks (PR wranglers and all) were super easy to deal with. If YouTube would have allowed longer videos, you could hear him comment on NASCAR. Unfortunately, something had to go. :(

I appreciate that he didn't give the expected response about the Caliber, and just accepted the fact that those things are trash.

I've never been a Dodge guy, hopefully he'll steer that company to a place where they can make me a convert.

Heh, you know the funny part of it all is that the competition's PR seems to try very hard NOT to directly compete with the Viper.

Last i heard, each of the following is still SLOWER on the Nurburgring:

Ferrari F430 Scuderia C6 ZR1 Nissan GT-R Porsche 911's Turbo, GT2, GT3, & GT3 RS Bugatti Veyron M-B SLR McLaren Ferrari Enzo Pagani Zonda Porsche Carrera GT Lamborghini Murcielago LP640 Lamborgini Gallardo Superleggera

on and on and on and on

I could keep going until we get down to the M3 CSL's and NSX's and R8's but at that point we're talking about the Viper driver finishing dinner before they come around.

So if you forgot the Viper was still around, its only because so many people are trying SO hard NOT to mention it, hoping you would forget.

Your post speaks the truth. I used to go to track days with my old Viper GTS and slap on a rear plate frame that stated, "Your Ferrari is my Bitch". The car could back it up and it was fun stirring the stuffed shirt pot.

That would be fun on a K-car.

I feel fairly certain Forza has a reply to that involving his GLHS and some old Shelby Mustangs.

Not a k-car, not ferraris, but roughly analogous.

That's also in the 08 viper ACR not the AXR-X.

It also does not have the revised Aero kit on the '10's The better gearing of the 09's. Or the hardcore park's Or a number of other small things.

The 09-10's are beasts on the tracks in ACR trim, way to fast for the competition and significantly cheaper. The guess on the ring based on other tracks is another 5-9 sec reduction in time.

I am pretty sure two of them are coming to my town soon with a couple of the hard core Viper racers. They are not cheap and they are not for the faint of heart either. In competent hands they will be interesting on track.

Looks like someone needs more accelerometer. That thing was pinned in one position or another for the entire video. It must be truly amazing to drive something like that. I bet it makes the original Viper RT/10 feel like a Miata by comparison.

    LOL, remember this ad?

    http://www.allpar.com/omni/GLHS.php

The GLH-S was faster 0-60 than a Ferrari 308 and Porsche 944 in 86 (not surprising since the smog laws had curtailed performance for a number of manufacturers)

That car's amazing! I think of racing Vipers and harken back to a friend who won the Super Unlimited class in the NASA west coast endurance series. My friend was driving a 240 HP Birkin. He would be very strong at the tighter courses, but struggle versus the 700 HP set on wide open courses like Willow Springs. At a Willow event he thought that a turbo Viper was repeatedly lapping him, but it turns out that the Turbo Viper was burning through rubber and fuel so often that they were in the same ballpark placment-wise!
