I don't really have the time/effort for another car right now... but I'd be lying if I said this didn't REALLY tempt me:

I have a 401/5-Speed combo sitting in the garage waiting for a car like this...

You need to buy it. What else would you do with the 401?

That is so damn cool. You should definitely do it. If you don't have the effort for that engine swap right now, just rock it 'as is' in the meantime.

I'd probably keep that one "as-is" and find a Pacer for the 401 swap.

Hmm, if you can find a tranny that will take it why not put an audi 20v turbo in that?

Lowered w/ bolt-on black fender flares and some wide retro 15" wheels--in the stock baby blue. Swap in that engine combo and it would be one helluva interesting corner carver (assuming suspension bits could be had)

Good lord, that would be perversely cool.

There was a complete Audi 20V swap on Portland CL a while back. The guy was selling it for $700 because he's putting an Audi V8 in his car.

An Audi V6 or V8 would sound so good and so wrong coming from that car.

Believe it or not, Gremlins are going up in price. That one looks clean and nice and is pretty darn cheap. Buy it, and if you decide not to swap the 401 in it, you won't lose any $$$.
