If anyone is interested, Lanier is having another Night of Destruction on August 21st. I had the pleasure of driving (er, make that killing) a big-ass Dodge van in the boat race and flagpole race, and even in the slowest thing out there it was a blast! If you have any old FWD 4cyl or V6 car, you can enter it. in any of the competitions, and a truck or van might be allowed again in the boat race... maybe the flagpole race. At a minimum I would recommend welding a bar from doorpost to doorpost (b-pillar) to keep the car from caving in on you, but even that is not required. Obviously, working seatbelts and a helmet ARE required. More info at http://crash-a-rama.com/carwarz/

Skid plate race will definately be there, and I'll have a car for it this time. Someone is donating a 4cyl Probe to the effort ;)

    Mike,

If they have any open seats, let me know. I'd love to build one for it, but I probably don't have time to do that. But I thought I remembered that the organizer brought a few.

He did for the first event. I was lucky enough to get one because I had bought a car to bring but couldn't get it there, so he found me a seat. If you want to run, I can help you find a car - not that you need it, I think you're as good with CL as I am - and there's not much to prepare it. Install that bar from post to post and put in an old harness so you don't have to use the crappy OEM seatbelt. That oughtta do it. The promoter supplies the boats, you do have to supply your own skids. If you show up at the track with two wheels minus tires and an old school bus bumper, they will make the skids for you. You need to come! And bring friends!
