Volvo is a wagon company. The sedans are just there to provide spare parts in the future. This makes me sad.

I am glad the C30 is being left untouched. for all the new volvos sold.. I see a LOT of C30s in this area.. and I like them, even if they are a bit big for my tastes

lame.....Volvo just lost alot of love from me (from a guy who grew up with half a dozen 240 and 260 wagons in the family). The only Volvo's I've ever much liked were the wagons. So now I officially don't like Volvo.

When gas hits $5.00 a gallon this summer, car manufacturers won't be able to give away a SUV. People will be looking for 6cyl. wagons to haul their kids and E36 M3.
I thought Volvo's break with Ford would make it MORE Volvoey not LESS.

I have had two V70s in a row. I thought that it would be three in spite of them being Chinese owned. I can't deal with the body cladding and dead weight of the XC70. Oh well. If we start on the Ramen noodle diet now we can afford a 5 series wagon when the time comes.

Yep....not many left. Mostly upper end. MB, BMW, Audi, Cadillac, Acura. I guess just Subaru holding down the lower end. I am talking true wagons here not those sort of little mini-van, SUV, crossover thingys. Am I missing any? l

I would like to think that Subaru is still an option but to me, the new Outback wagon is just the replacement of the Tribeca. The Outback is now officially a SUV disguised as a wagon no longer the previous wagon disguised as a SUV.

I've never really looked at modern Volvos except the C30, to me it is one of the best looking hatches out there, especially pre-facelift. I am sad to see the wagons go, there is (or at least should be) a very viable market for something that gets gas mileage similar to a similarly-sized 4 door sedan, and can carry a ton of crap or a small-medium sized family in comfort.
of course, I was also the guy who liked the Dodge Magnum and who did/still does very much want a '60s Ford Escort Mk.I RS1600... panel wagon
enough space to haul a lot of crap and enough power potential to make you forget you even had a spare postage stamp in your pocket

We test drove the new Outback when we bought our new V70. The Outback isn't a wagon any more. It's like jrw1621 said.

I agree. I was sitting next to a new Outback in traffic the other day thinking, "that thing is freakin' huge! I'm looking up at it [in my Jetta]."
Along the same lines, the Legacy wagon is going away as well...
And while we can bitch and complain, neither company would be doing this if the models were selling. Which they weren't. Because the average car buyer is an idiot...

IIRC, the Legacy wagon went away after the 2006 model year.....Only the outback variant remained.
Too bad, because the last-generation LGT wagon was fast, handled well, and looked good (and had AWD). It was a complete win.
