When you finally decide to replace the XRS I have a solution that meets your requirements. Honda Civic Si sedan. 8,000 rpm, 4 doors, and it will do 30k / year...no problem.

Old E30 parts and such aren't really that bad; not for a German car, not for any car. I was in college when I bought mine. The newer BMWs get, the more costly and often the repairs come.

Oh no you didn't, mr canoe...
Bought an '11 Civic Si brand new. My Xrs now has over 225k miles. I still like it better. I now need to get a beater so i can do an overhaul on it. I'm tempted to find another one, or get a GTS.
Uhm, why do you need to get a beater? Don't you have a '11 Civic for that?
Or just looking for an excuse to buy another car, like the rest of us.
I want to rebuild the engine in this one, and still get to work. My better half drives the Si.
VFR/Canoe combination intrigues me...
Awesome - what was the final decision btw? Springs too?
