A guy on my local craigslist is offering a NRG Innovations carbon racing seat for $200, I haven't seen the seat yet and he doesn't have much information listed about it either. New they cost about $500. Does anybody know anything about these seats or have experience with them?

Do racing seats have to be certified for road racing? (would this comply)

I'm going to check it out tomorrow, what should I be looking for? I've never looked at or owned a racing seats so I don't know much. It would be going into the Miata I am about to buy to hopefully lower the seating position.

    Thanks

Hahah weird when I go to the original post it looks correct but when I post it it changes, it won't let me do anything to correct it either!

It's the board code. Either put two spaces after the last word before hitting enter or hit enter twice.

I have a pair in my car. They aren't bad, but there are 3 different types. They are pretty comfy and can work for long distances i still daily drove the car and drove it to events for a while after I installed them.

The cloth cover will not last though. I have yet to recover mine, but it is needed. The padding will pull off and then the area around the harness holes pulls away.

As far as the racing thing, eh, it depends. What do you want to do? Now that you answered, go read the rules for it. You would want a seat back brace on these though. They are not certified in any way, though supposedly they were looking into it at some point.
