Make sure you check all the rules for whatever classes you will be racing in.
NHRA for example has a list of rules a page long for a battery relocation. I have decided to never relocate a battery in my cars because of the hassle. If you leave it in the stock location as far as I know there is zero hassle when it comes to passing tech later down the road.
