Tomorrow I install the dual remote oil filter and oil cooler. Better to put th ecooler before or after the oil dual filter? There will be a turbo getting plumbed into it later. I'm thinking cooler first before filters and the turbo going first before the cooler later on. Am I over thinking this and it doesn't really matter or should hot get cooled down before filter?

In an effort to keep trash out of the cooler in the event of a parts failure, I'd put the filter before anything else.

Interesting point, I never thought of that.

    Definitely filter first.

oil will heat some just from pushing through the filter hot oil filters easier too so cool after filter.

FYI: Never re-use a cooler after any failure you can't clean them well enough and there cheap compared to a rebuild.

From an efficiency standpoint, the cooler should always go where the fluid is the hottest. The greater the temperature differential is (between the fluid and the air cooling it), the more cooling you will get. As mentioned, the filter can technically increase the heat in the oil (due to inefficiency of the filtering media) so usually it goes pump->filter->cooler but sometimes there are reasons to do otherwise.

Boooooo!!!! Slight manufacturing defect. Had to drill tap and screw a bolt in it or I would have been stranded with Irene bearing down. Luckily the transdapt guys rocked and understood the emergency so plugging the hole wont void any warranty.

Great topic. I am currently building a remote filter and cooler system in my mind for my track rat. I was wondering if there was a consesus on how to daisy chain the cooler/filter routing.

So they sending you a new one? Casting thin there? Be careful on the road keep eye on the pressure and smells.

Yeah I get a free new one. I called to make sure the hack wouldn't void any thing. The guy was super great.

Looks like there was a random bubble in there.

Luckily I had installed the oil pressure sending unit at the same time. It ran great, no oil pressure problems, nice and smooth too.

My 5 qt oil change just jumped to 8 1/2 qts but i think its worth it.
