Apparently the 2018 subclass will be pod racers:

I'm a bit surprised the cameraman doesn't get sucked into the intake.

I have to wonder how much fuel they had to use, mighty expensive hobby...

Up until 4 minutes and 15 seconds ago, I did not realize that I desperately need an RB211 turbofan.

My shop in West Trenton NJ was just across the street from the US Navy Jet Turbine test center. Very noisy neighbors. However, while in the Air Force my quarters were very close to the flight line which was busy 24/7. You get used to it.

I'd be happy with any one of the APUs.

Was about to post the same thing. I would even find a use for them.

This is grassroots in spirit but not in budget...you're probably looking at 7 digits of equipment in that video.

And the cameraman is indeed standing too close for comfort to the intake, IIRC airport workers are told to treat a semicircle with a radius of 20ft. around the intake as the "quick but gruesome death zone."

Judging by the tent, backhoe, and that the stand the engine is mounted on has rollers, I presume it's moved in/out of the tent for storage & use. So I wonder how it's anchored down while in use?

A couple 1/2" ropes tied to a tree, it'll be fine...

Hope he bought that used. The depreciation curve on high bypass turbo fans is huge. Only fools pay a Rolls dealership for one.

Put the engine on a turntable, rotate towards pesky neighbors, and watch the problem blow away, Big Bag Wolf style...

I think the RB211 was an L-1011 engine?
