I know these tires are over 10 years old. They were always inside stored. You can still leave a mark in the tread with your finger nail. Due to a blown tire I had to put them on my car for daily use . They are loud at 40mph but very sticky, pull the car around on Indiana rough roads. Put a hundred miles on them and no chunking yet.

Yes, they are loud.  I ran a set of 048's (road race compound IIRC) on my Mk2 Jetta for one summer because I got them cheap and didn't put enough mileage on during the week to make me want to change back for autocross on the weekends.

As they wore, they got even louder.  I thought I had wheel bearings going bad several times...but it was just the tires.

I set my fastest lap at Race City speedway on my IT Neon on 10 year old 32's.  Old, coarse asphalt rewards a harder tire sometimes.

Tracks like mid ohio like worn tires.
