Old Celicas are very cool--wish I'd see more, but up here in Cheeseland that are all but dust. My 2nd car in high school was a '77 hatchback GT--took the "vents' off of the rear 1/4s and filled them in smooth--and added about another 150 pounds of bondo for the rest of the rust--and then sprayed it in Hunter Green Metallic...

Me too! I wish toyota would make some new cars that were not so boring! Here's an idea for Toyota, since the old Celicas were patterned after the Mustang, why not do a Retro theme new Celica patterned after the First gen Celica and make it HOT as in having a decent engine to match the body.

Car buyers do not live on boring cars with a little S on the back of them, as much troubles as Toyota is having right now, why not give us something worth going to the lot to check out.

If Toyota came out with something like I mentioned above, I bet there would be a waiting list for them!

Toyota does have the upcoming FT-86. It would be cool if they used the Celica name for it.

While that'd be cool, my hope is that it replaces the tC, and my fear is that it'll be badged as a Lexus (SC200?), just so they can charge an extra $5k for the pleasure.

Besides, if they call it a Celica, they'll have to follow it up with a six-cylinder "Celica Supra".... oh noes

Cool! I've always liked those cars, but good ones are hard to find down here. Southerners in those days didn't buy many "ferrin" cars. I know one of our regulars (EastCoastMojo) has one, but she's got a lot of rust repair ahead, too.

I'm not the one DOING the work either... Pineapple Racing's Rob Golden is doing the work. And yes... I too am just a glorified parts changer compared to this re-engineering job....

Pass along to P-Racing that you're getting good feedback on that piece, they'll love it.
