How much does it cost to ship over a body?

To upstate NY it is right at $3700. I don't know yet if there are taxes due here yet.

How many Spitfires do you think are in the US? It wouldn't be a problem getting a Mold here and a jig for the 1 by 1 super structure that will bolt to the Spitfire frame. I would do this if it was worthwhile. Because the Spitfire has a separate body and frame it would be less expensive than the Miata kit.

Finding a ratty Spitfire in the US isn't hard. The Miata based one is cool but I am not terribly interested. I would love a Spitfire one though.

I vote for the larger grille, and I'll be watching this project with great interest. I can see a kit build in my future, and while I have been thinking about a Smyth G3F, this little sportscar might sway me from those plans.

I wanted to thank every one for their thoughtful comments regarding the two grill openings. I was leaning towards the smaller opening. Your comments have made me decide to do the larger version.

One of the things that I like about this car is that it is not a replica. There is not a right or wrong way to build it or detail it out. It can be customized to taste.

Now, just waiting for the body to arrive.
