I guess they are bringing it to the US. I just saw a commercial and they mention something about "no compromise"!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

OK, so they mean other then the fact that it clearly is not a full out sports car, and they clearly have styled it after the 911, including the rear end, despite the fact that it is a front engine car!

I can't wait to see the Porsche pickup truck... hey why not at this point.

I was thinking this morning that I wouldn't mind seeing a short-wheelbase, 2+2 version of the Panamara sold as a modern-day version of the 928. The rear seats could removable/optional, like on the Evora. Even as a 2-seater, it would be more of a grand tourer than a dedicated sports car like the Cayman; that would make a nice point of distinction with the rest of the lineup.

It is a huge step up from the Cayenne in my opinion. The Cayenne was somewhere Porsche didn't need to go, this however I can see. Nothing wrong with a 500HP front engine rear drive sedan.

Just thought about the Harley thread elsewhere on this board as soon as I hit the Add Post button. I'm glad to see Porsche evolve. I didn't think they needed to jump on the SUV bandwagon, but this is a nice addition.

A company has to change if it is going to survive long term. Otherwise, well you end up with "The Motor Company". "We'll build any bike as long as it has a tractor engine, weighs 600 lbs, and has a wheelbase longer than a Suburban's. "

I agree entirely with this sentiment.

Of course, the Cayenne has been a cash cow for Porsche, so I can't argue that that vehicle doesn't have a business case. But I still hate it.

I can't find the source now but it's rumored VW decided to phase out both the Panamera and Cayenne after the current product cycle to focus the brand on sports cars.

I think the car is uggs, they should have explored a modern 944-ish model. Maybe the Panamera with two doors?

It's ugly, alright, no getting around that.

But so long as Porsche keep making the 911, I think they can do whatever the hell else they want .

Some friends hit the annual car show in lakeland, fl this past weekend, Porsche brought some panamera's (panameri?) production will be stopped after six years, according to conversation with the porsche rep's, word has already come down from vw...

as for the cayenne, probably the same, but if decide to buy an sut, it is about the only one out there that can replace my vehicross on a feature for feature basis, nothing else even comes close with both on road and offroad ability, and the cayenne is much faster.. I would not hesitate to buy a used one once finances improve...

I look forward to seeing what the "new" porsche comes out with, having access to vw and audis parts bins again, I predict a 1.4ltr TSI , awd drive train in the foot print of a new scirroco (hopefully with an awd option) with a body and interior designed by Porsche.. aka a new 94* series

Haven't seen the TV ads, but there are several magazines ads that are very nice.

The car, not so much, but they aren't building it for me.

There was a Panamera on the street over here in Sandy Springs on Mt Vernon Highway right near Perimter Mall & Porsche's American Corporate Headquarters on Hammond St, I couldn't get my phone out fast enough

It looked like a Porsche, but it was odd to see one so long, but the lines were nice and if you weren't looking for it you'd never notice its 4 doors...

we're either watching 2 different commercials or have widely divergent tastes..... the family tree commercial shows just how ugly the Panamera truly is

I hated the Panamera when I first saw the spy shots. I thought the rear end was shockingly ugly when the pre-production testing photos started hitting the net. But after hearing the reports from everyone who's driven it and seen the test drives & commercials on tv, I'm starting to want the car, even though I still think it's super weird looking from behind. If this thing depreciates anywhere near as fast as the Cayanne, I could see myself picking up a used example as a sweet q-ship by the time my kid hits middle school.

They launched the car in the U.S. during the Monterey Historics week this year. They were all over Monterey giving test drives. They are much better looking in person, but still not super attractive IMHO. The experience from behind the wheel is fantastic according to everyone I spoke with that drove one. "Amazing handling for something so big and heavy" was the common reaction.

The Turbo is very quick too.

I don't want one.....but they aren't exactly aiming the car at me either.

What sort of room do they have in the back seat? Big enough for full size adults to sit back there?

It's hard to say that any Porsche is good looking. They don't look particularly bad, but like an athlete, I'm more comfortable complimenting their achievements than their aesthetics.

The commercial is awsome but I can't see this racing.

Seeing one in person, they aren't that appealing, interior and engine's nice but that price is just too much.

Not a bad car but not a looker.
