Replacing Miata motor, after flywheel removal I notice that cast into the back of one of the blocks is BP-1 and the other one is BP-2 they are the same year motor (96)
Whats up with that? What is the significance?
They are identical otherwise.

Dunno. Do they both have the oil feed under the exhaust manifold? That's the only external change I can think of around that time period.
