how do paint supplies factor in? does sandpaper apply since its not on the car? what about thinner, masks, and booth filters?

i ordered those 31 series 13X10s from aero, i think i ordered a 3.5 inch backspacing. hope they fit...

    thanks!

YES: Thinner (because it's part of the paint as the paint is applied)

    NO: Masks, booth filters, sandpaper.

    Hey AngryOne:

You sure about the thinner? It's NOT on the car when it gets to the Challenge. Thinner is the medium for transfer of the pigment, but evaporates leaving only the pigment.

heheheeee good point. it is REQUIRED to apply the paint, much as a tool is required to tighten a bolt. but i dont have to count the tool. so is thinner a tool? (not that this matters, as im doing a roll on anyways...)

If you can achieve the same result spraying non-thinned paint, then i'll buy your argument.

a wrench is not part of the component being installed. thinner is indeed a component of the paint as it is being installed.

brings up an interesting argument, though, about consumables being parts and not tools.

and in some cases, yes, the thinner is still on the car at the challenge!

If you can achieve the same result using non-sanded filler or not sanding between coats of paint, then I'll buy your argument on sandpaper.

The obvious answer is that we should powder coat EVERYTHING!
