So it's one month until the Babe Rally and I figured it's time to start working on my car ... (Bonaduce the e-30 ... ugly, Old, Red, with issues).

Before I parked 'him' in the lower 40 I unhooked the battery to save what little charge I had ... This weekend I snap off the key in the trunk lock. No biggee I have a back up, but I can't get the trunk open because the chunk of the key is lost in the lock.

Can't get in through the back seat or parcel shelf (I looked but didn't unbolt much) ... No battery, no move-y, no work-y gets done.

I've tried ice picks, jig saw blades, very small screw drivers etc. before I just drill out the lock ... any unseful advice? Anyone have a picture of where the pin is? Any ideas?

The trunk lid is nice I hate to just go at it with a crow bar.

you can put 12v to the battery cables that pop out at the pass-rear corner of the engine bay, add ground, and if your central locking still works it might unlock the rear latch if it didnt break off in the locked position.

That's what I was about to suggest. Put the jumper cables on the posts under the hood, unlock the door with the spare key, and it should open with the push of the button.

Can you not find someone to crawl in the ski hole?

good suggestion about the locking system ...

Mr Happy said 'craw in the Ski hole' ... Sounds dirty but even if I got into the trunk with the latch still locked could I get it open? Once I get it open I plan on dissambling the lock and getting the broken bit out.

No you can unbolt it from inside the trunk. Its two 10mm nuts to get the seat back off. then you just kick the ski hole in if its there and clime in.

I've been in some trunks that didn't give access to the bolts unless it was open (Babe rally cars are fun!).

    I'll try both plans tonight.
