This.

Even if all you do is tinker with it and get it running again, it counts as a win both for a rare classic car, and for you and your son.

I didn't realize it was THAT rare.... What do you think the value of it would be. p.s. Seller says it has a clean title too !

I did not realize that these are suicide doors.
I'm sure I've seen Saabs of this vintage before that were not suicide.

Edit: Wiki tells me that '57 & '58 rear hinge; '59 & '60 front hinge. Interesting.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Saab_93

Early models also had a 2 piece windshield, later changed to 1 piece.

In reply to JohnRW1621:

The 96 that came later had standard doors.

I was serious when I said to share the sale contact if you don't want it. I'm good friends with several of the foremost early SAAB restorers.

looks like a lot of the trim is still there too.. hard to find stuff like the grill and the small vents either side of it

Well, this has all turned into just a thought execise.

Some where between 12:02 when I texted to schedule a time to see the car, and 1:27 when I asked for a pic of the VIN plate (to do some more research) the cas has SOLD !

Bummer..... my paranoid side thinks one of you guys found it and bought it out from underneath me ??? (it was on Craigslist) That couldn't happen, could it ? And if it did would anyone admit it?

I found it and emailed for some more information. I got a reply around 10:30 that there were a couple people interested in sending a deposit to hold it so I figured it wouldn't last long.

I guess you can't really call "DIBBS" on such a good deal.... Oh well.... better luck next time.

Not me. I really want a 93 or 96 someday though. I also want to survive until New Years, which would most likely not happen if I came home with another non-running Saab.

Price seems high though.

When I ice raced a Saab 95, my biggest competitor was a guy with a model 95 that somehow screwed a Corvair turbo onto his port & polished V-4 unit.

Still on my Bucket List.

I saw that one. I also thought it was high for 220k and what sounds like a tunnel that has or will soon come apart.

And she was equally unimpressed by the running beater Saab. Now if it was an E38 740i or similar age LS400, it would be fine. Women are so fickle...

Any 914Driver, that must have been awesome! My grandparents had a 95 stroker. I can vaguely remember the sound and smoke. They traded it in for a lime green Mazda RX4? that had about 4x the power, but still smoked.

Wonder if a 90s era snowmobile two stroke triple would fit? That could be fun..

My Dad had a 1971 Saab 95 wagon with the V4. I dug the tail fins as a kid.

I recall an article in Cycle magazine from 30 years ago or so, where the then-president of Saab had put one of their engines into a Suzuki GT750 motorcycle (which had a two stroke triple engine from the factory.)

The next time you see a '58 Saab with a clear title for $650 and looks even half that good, the correct first post is, "Hey! Look at what I just bought!!"

Figure out what to do with it later.

And FWIW, I'm also in the restore and preserve camp.
