I just bought some chrome wheels in the right size but man are they heavy.

Any way to easily remove the chrome?

Can you bead blast chrome off?

Would the weight savings be worth the effort on a pair of Challenge wheels?

    Thanks, Bruce

    The chrome weighs nothing.

There's no easy way to remove the chrome, either.

yea.. the chrome finish is microns thick.. you will not gain much from blasting it off.. they are probably just heavy steel wheels with a shiney chrome finish

Thanks guys. Yes, they are shiny. I only paid $40 for a pair of 15x8 wheels with a VW Beetle bolt pattern, cheap in my book. Probably not worth mounting drag tires but not bad to cruise on.
