There is no such thing as "removing" automotive interior trim.

You can demolish interior trim. Or you can never touch it and hope to hell nothing ever goes wrong back there . There is no in between.

    The cake is a lie.

    Confess....what happened? Photos appreciated.

PS - don't worry about it too much. Interiors are over rated.

Remove fasteners then a pull, a tug, a jiggle, and a wiggle usually will to it. Some of the stuff in the mercedes is pain but comes off without breaking. Don't ask about the door panel though!

Suspected rear sunroof drains on E46 are blocked. Foam of rear seat cushion bottom is completely soaked.

That popped out easily enough. So did 3 corners of the seat back. For reasons unknown, the upper right spring clip absolutely refused to let go. Bent the crap out of the seat back and finally got spring clip to release; remains to be seen if I can get it back in neatly.

Taking the headliner out requires removing all pillar trim... which means you have to start under the dash and remove all the kick plate trim, then the door sills, then the lower B-pillar trim, then the upper b-pillar trim... instructions say to pop the bottom of the lower b-pillar trim out, and then move it down to release the top part. Of course, you can only pop the bottom out by moving it UP (which you can, because the upper trim is still in the way). So once you finally force those clips and bust a few, you're supposed to push the lower trim down to release the top... which you CAN'T, because once it's popped out, it sits firmly on top of the seat adjuster track. So basically you just have to rip this thing out and snap all the clips.

THEN you get to argue with the headliner panel, and things get really ugly.

    In reply to Woody:

Do you want the photos as a guide for possible future work, or as a deterrent to ownership - kind of like babysitting several 2-3 year old kids is great birth control
