I blame Lance Armstrong for this.....he took 4 years off of his sport and then came back and got 3rd in the tour, Schumi wants some of that.

wow... interesting how the next race will turn out.. trying not to badmouth Ferrari, which was my favorite team for years, but the F60 is a mid-pack car. If you put Jesus Christ behind the wheel, the best result he could mustard will be 4th or 5th...

Great move for Ferrari, they'll double their camera time no matter where the car ends up running. And I have a feeling Schumi will be towards the front. Also, might light a fire in Raikonnen. This has been one heck of a season!

But if you put Iron Mike Ditka behind the wheel vs. them F1 fancy lads, I figure it would be Da Coach standing on top of the podium. And then he'd kick their pansy asses.

This sounds awesome, and since last race it seems the car has improved a fair bit. Let's see the Ferrari v McLaren battle now. I'm not a huge Ferrari fan but this is just cool.

But didn't he win a few races in sub-par cars when he first joined Ferrari?

But I agree about the Lance analogy... makes me wonder if Bernie asked him after seeing how Lance's return boosted the TdF ratings...

I enjoyed Clarkson's interview with him a few weeks ago on TopGear. When referring to Jensen Button's season, Jeremy said, "It's kind of boring watching the same guy win race after race, isn't it?"

I want to see F1s current tough guy give Schumi a hard time. That's right, I want to see Mark Webber smoke Mikey. Any dude who can survive two crazy backflips in a prototype at LeMans, get hit by a car head on while on a bike, have titanium rods and bolts in his leg and go in sub zero temperatures to aid in healing, and then keep his younger supposedly "the next F1 superstar" team-mate honest is one tough hombre. Even if he plays tennis (I play tennis too)

Not so much politics as daytime drama. (Or middle of the night drama, depending on your time zone.)

I just want to see the clip of Ross Brawn's smile when either Jenson or Reubens drives around Schumi..

I hope he finishes poorly in every race. Maybe then the MS fans will realize his wins were due to Ferrari spending more money than the other teams. That, and because most F1 races consist of about six good drivers and 15 kids who pretty much suck.

Not that it's any different than IndyCar, but the drivers definitely aren't as elite or superior as most F1 fans think they are.

    July 30, 2009 9:17 a.m. maroon92 SuperDork

I disagree. With the exception of alguesuari, i think the drivers of F1 ARE the best out there. Give Sutil a car that can win, and he will. Some are obviously better, however. Give Alonso a Renault and he will still win.

  • Carson

    July 30, 2009 9:26 a.m. Carson Dork

I'll disagree with your disagreement! I think WRC drivers are they best out there.

I'm not really a Schumacher fan, but I'll say he's a really good driver. Everyone in F1 is.

Also, I'll through this out there just to stir the pot: Toyota spent the most money last year and we saw how well that worked out for them.

That is SO wrong. The slowest F1 driver can still out-drive the best NASCAR guy.

I feel like Vettel is the real McCoy; we'll be hearing more from him.

I rescind my previous statement and henceforth agree with your disagreement to my disagreement. as far as circuit racers go though, F1 has the strongest talent...aside from possibly MotoGP.

And, I disagree again...NASCAR sucks, but the drivers don't. I bet that Kyle Busch could drive the balls off an F1 car with some practice, Montoya won some races in F1, several have run the Daytona 24, Dales, Jr. and Sr. ran in 2001 in a Corvette C5-R and came 4th in class...
