We just installed a new starter in our 85 RX7 (12A). Now, when we attempt to hook up the battery, the engine tries to start, even though the key is not even in the ignition. Ignition switch was working properly prior to the starter install and is working fine in all other respects. Wires appear to be connected correctly. What are we missing?

Remove the small wire from the starter and place it on the other small terminal.

Tried that and the not only does the starter spin as soon as you connect the battery, but the starter does not engage the flywheel.

    Sounds like a bad starter

Yup. I am finding out from the RX7 board that this is a problem with NAPA starters.
