So....I happened to notice this little rx sitting in the far, far back lot of a dealer ship. all four tires flat. Last tag on plate from 91.

But, the wheels...are they stock? What would GRM value this as? I see very little exterior rust (couldn't get inside the car).

It is a manual as well with ALL the interior (including OEM radio, etc)

It's a 79-80 model. Looks like an S model (no sun roof) with GS Wheels.

If it runs, has descent miles, no rust or major body damage I'd say it's worth $800-$1000 at the least. If it's a non runner but it awesome shape, $300-$500.

I bought a runner with body damage for $500. It came with a spare car though.

Wheels stock. Check for rust in rear wheel arches where upper control arms attach. How nice makes price

Well....I probably can't buy it, but I emailed the dealership anyways. It looks pretty clean, just very neglected.

I believe that that is the lightest RX7 ever made. 2310# ?

Could be a GS without the sunroof as I have an early production GS without AC or sunroof. Odd combo I know but it is in fact a GS. That is an early car from the looks of it as well with no mirror on the right side. Stock GS wheels and also could be an option on the S model I believe. The RX-7 world calls em waffles, and they are not highly sought after as they are only 13".

That looks surprisingly rust free for a 30 year old car in Michigan.

I've got a set of those wheels somewhere.

As far as value, prices seem to be all over the place. I paid $200 for mine ten years ago and I've seen them in the $5000 range as well.

Definitely a 79 if it is Spark Yellow. YU paint code only available in 79 model year unless someone painted it(doubtful). My guess is it that it is an early production car, probably built in 78 like mine. I say offer as high as $500 if the body is clean but a non-runner. The pic makes it look pretty rust free, but it can,and will hide on any RX-7 of that vintage. Look around the idler arm on the frame rail they tend to rot there as well.

Look for a 4 or 5-speed to tell S from GS as well as a two or four-spoke steering wheel.Although that is easier to move from a GS to an S so not always a giveaway for the lower model. The 4-speed two spoke steering wheel cars are the only real way to tell an S from a GS on the early cars as the AC,and sunroof wasn't always put on the early cars as Mazda was pumping out as many cars as they could early, and the lower optioned cars were easier, and quicker to make.

I love my Spark Yellow early production SA,and wouldn't trade it for the world. You can't go wrong with these cars if they are fairly rust free. Stupid simple, and easy to work on. Just don't rice it out please these cars deserve a better fate than that.

    In reply to Mazdax605:

Don't forget center armrests, S models didn't come with them.

Forgot that one. Trivial part really as you can source one from even a newer FB,and they work just fine.

Yeah same mounts. I pulled the one out of my '79 GS parts car to put in my '80 S. To my surprise, the wiring for the ashtray light was right there under the carpet on the S.
