An amazing amount of crap flew out of those cars including people. Maybe seat belts were options on those cars. Cleaning them obviously was.

If you look at the cars that rolled...ACVWs, Fiat rear engined, renaults.. they were all rear engined and swing/trailing arm suspended. They were also cheap cars that were not meant for that kind of driving.
Even the BMWs used that style rear suspension.. an 02 can bite HARD if you are not careful
